One day in fourth grade, Stephen discovered that he could write stories and poems.  It's been hard to keep him from penning words ever since!  A total nerd and a proud Coloradan, Stephen particularly loves to write science fiction and fantasy, though sometimes he dabbles in realistic fiction and non-fiction.  When he's not writing, he's either working as a high school paraprofessional with GOAL High School, scuba diving, signing petitions to help protect the environment, collecting fossils, or watching bad monster movies with his family and friends.

Stephen's first-ever publication was a poem in 2012 in The Crucible, the student arts magazine of the University of Northern Colorado.  His first professional poetry publication was a haiku with Acorn in 2015.  His first fiction publication was with the webzine 365tomorrows in 2019.  His science fiction novelette, The Spark, debuted with Hiraeth Publishing in the summer of 2021.  To date, his work has appeared or will appear with The Fifth Di..., Daily Science Fiction, Scifaikuest, Utopia Science Fiction, Three Line Poetry, Frogpond Journal, Under the Basho, Modern Haiku, Presence, Illumen and Star*Line, among others.  Stephen is a board member of the non-profit Taproot Guru, for whom he writes animal fact profiles.  His biggest project, a middle grade fantasy novel over ten years in the making, is complete and hopefully will be in the hands of an agent in the near future!
